Simple Content Marketing Formula: 3 Things You Should Be Doing For Content Marketing Success

Here’s a simple content marketing formula to help you generate more leads and acquire a bigger audience.

Here is a simple CONTENT MARKETING FORMULA:

  1. CONSISTENCY

Depending on how long it takes for the consumer or client that you're working with to see or be aware of your product or service and to actually take action on it that could vary and depend.

If it's a very short cycle, you actually need to be very consistent.

But the longer the cycle or process the more consistency you need.

But for me in real estate with the clients that I work with that help them with buying or selling it could take anywhere from a minimum probably three months to be nurturing a lead or maybe up to three years. You have to be very consistent with your content marketing when it comes to that kind of lag period from awareness to action.

I just want you to keep this in mind as I keep going through this content marketing formula, think of CONSISTENCY as the length of time.

  2. FREQUENCY

The second part of the formula is your FREQUENCY.  It is different than the consistency because this is about how often not for how long. Maybe you've heard of the term Minimum Viable Product.

What do you think your minimum viable frequency should be?

What's the least you could do to maintain awareness with your audience?

Is that only once a week, twice a week or three times a week?

I guess it's going to be a minimum of at least three times a week. That should be your target without knowing anything about you, your target audience. I was gonna guess that three times is the minimum, but you know your audience and you know you better than I do.

Take a look at what's the minimum viable frequency. How often do they need to see from you and hear from you for you to be in front of them.

  3. VARIETY

What I mean by VARIETY is not being a one-trick pony.

Let's say video marketing isn't something that you really do and you prefer written text, well you're gonna have to mix that up, you can't just do text.

A lot of times you're gonna have to mix in some different images.

Sometimes you're gonna have to get on camera and do some video, maybe mixing some different audio in there.

We have a tendency to fall back to a default style of content. One thing that I teach with my coaching clients is this idea of a hero's journey or stories of success and it's really easy for them to fall back on that.

I see a lot of my clients fall back into this idea of always telling about the stories of success via the hero's journey, but if that's all your audience is hearing from you, the same type of story and the same type of post, the same type of content…

They're gonna get bored really quickly and tune you out. You need to be able to mix in the variety of content.

The second part is just a variety inside of the content itself. What are you doing to keep their attention to keep mixing it up or to keep it interesting?

If they know what's coming next it's really easy to tune someone out. For a specific example in this video, I keep adding some different b-roll and keep trying to make this a little bit interesting adding some cuts and some jumps so that your eye doesn't get bored of what it's looking at. I'm adding the variety!

So take a look at your variety on your overall content strategy, but also look at the variety in each individual piece.
